Radishes are loved by many for being one of the earliest sources of vitamins in the spring menu. True, in recent years, many varieties and hybrids have appeared, which are quite simple to grow in greenhouses, even in autumn and winter. And at the expense of resistance to bolting such a radish can be safely grown in the heat of summer. One of such hybrids is radish Cherryat F1.

Description

The hybrid of radish Cherryat was obtained by breeders of the Japanese company Sakata Seeds Corporation in the early 2000s. Originator and applicant for registration of a hybrid in Russia became a subsidiary of Sakata Vegetables Europe S.A.S. located in France. In 2007, radish Cherryat was already registered in the State Register of Russia and allowed to grow throughout our country.

Since this hybrid, unlike most varieties of radish, is not particularly sensitive to day length, it can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses during the spring and autumn periods.

For some reason, many sources, including the description of the variety from the Gavrish company, emphasize the early ripeness of radish Cherryat. But judging by the characteristics of the variety in the State Register, as well as reviews of gardeners, radish Cherryat belongs to medium-late varieties, that is, it fully ripens about 30 days after the emergence of shoots.

Rosette of leaves is quite compact, grows partially up and slightly to the side. The leaves have a gray-green color, obovate, narrowed at the base.

Radish radish Cherryat has a round shape with a convex head, the color is traditional, red.

The flesh is white, juicy, tender, not at all prone to flabbiness even in adverse growth conditions.

Taste, as well as commodity qualities of this hybrid are evaluated by experts as excellent, the average sharpness is moderate.

Radish Cherryat is well transported and can be stored for quite a long time - up to a month in a refrigerator.

Cherryat is able to grow to good size, on average, the weight of one root is 25-30 grams, but a radish 5-6 cm in size and weighing up to 40 grams is not uncommon. At the same time, large-sized root crops, even with obvious growth, never have voids in the pulp - they are always juicy and fresh.

Hybrid Cherryat is famous for its yield, which on average is 2.5-2.7 kg / sq. m

Comment! With good care, you can collect more than three kilograms of radish root crops per square meter of land.

Radish Cherryat also has a high resistance to various diseases: fusarium, black leg, keel.

Advantages and disadvantages

Radish Cherryat has many advantages over other varieties.

Benefits

disadvantages

Large size of root crops

Demanding sunshine

Not prone to the formation of flower stalks

Not the earliest ripening

The lack of pronounced sensitivity to the duration of daylight

There are no voids in the fruit, even when overgrown

Compact sheet rosette

High yield

Disease resistance

Seed preparation for sowing

Sakata seeds have already been treated with a special growth stimulator and are fully prepared for planting, so no additional treatment is required. The only thing that can be done with a large variation in the size of the seeds is to calibrate them in size: up to 2 mm inclusive, 2-3 mm and more than 3 mm. Each group of seeds should be planted separately, in this case, the seedlings will be more friendly and the quality of the crop will improve.

Features of growing

The main feature of radish Cherryat F1 is that even in conditions of hot weather and a long day in the summer, it is not prone to the formation of floral arrows, like many varieties of radish. Instead, plants are actively poured underground part, for the sake of which this crop is actually grown.

For this reason, the period of cultivation of radish Cherryat is not limited to the spring or autumn season. You can sow it and harvest rich harvests throughout the hottest summer.

In the open ground

Usually, radish seeds are sown in open ground in most regions of Russia since the first decade of April. Of course, in the southern regions, the dates may shift by the beginning of March, depending on the weather in spring. If you want to constantly have fresh radishes on the table, the Cherryat hybrid can be sown during the warm season every two to three weeks until mid-September.

Being a cold-resistant crop, radish can withstand slight frosts, up to -3 ° C (for germination) and up to -6 ° C (for adult plants), but grows best at temperatures of + 12 ° + 16 ° C. For more germinating in early spring planting of this vegetable, it is customary to cover with a film on arcs or medium thickness with a nonwoven material.

At the optimum temperature of + 15 ° + 18 ° C, seeds can germinate quite quickly - in 4-6 days. If it is still cold outside and sometimes the temperature drops to zero, seed germination can last up to two weeks.

The best predecessors for radish are cucumbers and tomatoes. But it is impossible to sow it in the beds, where any members of the cabbage family (turnip, radish, rutabaga, turnip, cabbage) were growing before.

Attention! When sowing radish, you can use any planting scheme, as long as there is a distance of at least 5 cm between the plants so that you do not have to thin them out further.

Many use a two-line planting, with a gap between rows of 6-7 cm, and between rows of 10-15 cm. Others prefer to sow in rows across the beds, with a distance of 8-10 cm between the ribbons.

The optimum depth of planting radish seeds is 1-1.5 cm. With deeper sowing, the seedlings may be non-friendly and uneven. It is advisable to fill the seeds with specially prepared fertile soil or humus.

The main thing in radish care is watering. Watering is necessary regularly and abundantly, so that the earth at a depth of 10 cm is always wet. It is because of fluctuations in moisture in the soil that roots can crack.

Top dressing usually does not require radish, especially if the garden bed was well fertilized for the previous vegetable crops, because this vegetable is very early and has time to take everything it needs from the ground.

In the greenhouse

Under greenhouse conditions, Cherryat radish can be sown from March (and in the southern regions from February) until late autumn (October-November). In the presence of a heated greenhouse, you can try to grow this hybrid in winter, but it should be noted that with a lack of light, the growing season increases and the radish may be ripening twice as slowly.

When growing radish in a greenhouse, it is especially important not to thicken the plants when sowing. Due to the compactness of rosettes of radish leaves, Cherryat can be sown according to the 6x6 cm scheme. When shoots appear, it is desirable to reduce the temperature to + 5 ° + 10 ° С. Watering during this period should be moderate. With the beginning of the formation of root crops, the temperature rises to + 16 ° + 18 ° С in sunny weather and up to + 12 ° + 14 ° С in overcast. Watering is also increasing, trying to keep the soil from drying out.

Growing problems

Problems of growing radish Cherryat

The reasons

Shooting

Practically does not happen with radish Cherryat. Rarely, but due to too high temperatures in summer.

Root crop of small size or almost does not develop

Lack of light or thickened landing. Seeds too deeply embedded in the ground. Excess or lack of watering. Unstructured poor or freshly watered land.

Bad Roots

Excess nitrogen fertilizer

Cracking fruit

Sharp fluctuations in soil moisture

Diseases and pests

Disease / pest

Signs of Radish Damage

Methods of prevention / treatment

Cruciferous flea

Gnaw through the leaves during germination and can destroy the entire plant.

Completely close the planting of radish with fine agrofibre for 2 weeks before the beginning of the formation of root crops, when the pest will not be terrible. Dusting radish every 2-3 days with tobacco dust, wood ash or their mixture. Spraying infusions of tomato, celandine, tobacco, dandelion leaves

Quila

Blistering occurs on the roots, the plant fades and dies.

Do not plant radishes after growing vegetables from the cabbage family

Downy mildew

The formation of white bloom on the leaves leads to the death of the plant.

Strictly observe the distance between plants when sowing, spray phytosporin

Reviews

Anton, 29 years old, Bryansk Read on the Internet about an interesting hybrid of radish from Japan - Cherriet and decided to experiment with it. I liked it, above all, the yield and size of the fruit. With good watering, radishes easily grew to 5-6 cm. And inside all of these giants there is no void, they are really juicy and tasty. I sowed seeds in the greenhouse even when there were frosts on the street, and later in the open ground. In the summer, it was no longer up to him, therefore, of course, I did not observe skull marks. Varvara, 36 years old, the city of Omsk. Planted Radish Cherriet this year and understood why people grow imported hybrids. He, in general, can not be compared with our usual cheap varieties - large, juicy, and the leaves are small. And to grow it is sheer pleasure. Now I will grow only hybrids. That's just the taste of her husband seemed even sweetish, he loves more spicy.
