Experienced gardeners know how to accelerate the growth of cucumbers in the greenhouse. Plants grow intensively when favorable conditions are created for them. The condition of cucumbers depends on many factors. Low temperatures, illness, frost, oversupply or lack of moisture can slow down the development of cucumbers and even cause their death. If you closely monitor the condition of the seedlings and respond in time to any changes in conditions in the greenhouse, the first cucumber can be picked in May.

Correct temperature

Knowing how to grow cucumbers correctly, you can get an early harvest. Cucumbers love heat and it is difficult to tolerate sudden changes in temperature. On sunny days, the air in the greenhouse should warm up to 25 - 30 degrees.

If the sky is covered with clouds, the plants will be comfortable at a temperature of 20 - 22 degrees.

At night, the air should not be cooled below 18 degrees.

A warning! A value of 13 degrees is dangerous for culture. In such conditions, the seedlings stop growing, all processes in it slow down.

If low temperatures last for several days, a good harvest will fail.

Critical cooling of the air in the greenhouse for more than 5 days will cause the death of the seedlings. To maintain the required level of heat, experienced gardeners recommend heating the greenhouse.

On the garden bed, you need to make several holes 40–50 cm in diameter and 30 cm deep. They must be located 2 meters apart from each other in order to evenly heat the air in the greenhouse.

The pits are filled with a mixture of fresh straw dung with sawdust, dry grass and straw. The mixture should be poured with a hot urea solution.

To prepare the solution, add 10 tablespoons of urea to a bucket of water (10 liters).

Cucumbers are afraid of frosts. With a sharp and strong decrease in temperature, it is better to cover the greenhouse with sheets of roofing material or rags. Plants can be hidden under the caps of the newspaper. To heat the greenhouse for a period of sharp decrease in temperature, you can use electric heaters, heat guns or containers with warm water.

Providing optimal carbon dioxide levels

In order for cucumbers to grow, develop and ripen quickly, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient level of carbon dioxide in the greenhouse. In outdoor air, its concentration is approximately 0.2%. In the air greenhouse carbon dioxide contains even less. With a concentration of 0.5%, it is possible to achieve a significant acceleration of plant growth and an increase in yield by 45%.

Increase the carbon dioxide content in different ways:

  1. In the greenhouse arrange capacity with mullein.
  2. Along the perimeter of the plot with seedlings lay out pieces of dry ice.
  3. With the help of a siphon for soda water aerate the liquid and leave it in containers near planted plants. Aeration of the room should be carried out twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. It is advisable to do this a couple of hours after sunrise and 3.5 hours before sunset.

Airing greenhouses

Using the advice of gardeners, how to grow cucumbers quickly, you can avoid many mistakes. It is necessary to ventilate the greenhouse to prevent air stagnation. Its presence is evidenced by a highly moist soil. High soil moisture significantly slows the growth of plants. The soil in the greenhouse must necessarily dry before the next watering.

In extreme heat, it is especially important to air the greenhouse so that it does not heat the air to high temperatures. In extreme heat, plants slow down growth.

It is better to open doors and windows in the evenings. At the same time it is necessary to ensure that there are no drafts.

How to water the plants

Cucumbers poorly tolerate both deficiency and excess of moisture.

Immediately after planting the seedlings in the greenhouse and before it blooms, the garden should be watered moderately. Plants need daily watering. About 5 to 10 liters of water are poured into 1 square meter. On cold days, the amount of water is reduced to 2 - 3 liters.

With the appearance of flowers, the irrigation intensity is reduced to 4 - 5 liters per square meter. In this mode, the seedlings will not go excessively in growth, giving strength to the formation of ovaries.

If you had to skip more than two irrigations, the soil should be moistened more than usual.

Tip! Water cucumbers need warm water. It is best to put a large container of water near the greenhouse. During the day it warms up to the desired temperature. In the evening, water is watered over the plants with a watering can with a divider.

Regular feeding of plants

One of the main reasons for the delay in the growth of cucumbers is inadequate nutrition during the growing season. For the cultivation of a large number of fruits need regular feeding. Fertilize the soil immediately after transplanting. Ammonium nitrate (15 g), potassium chloride (15 g) and double superphosphate (20 g) are mixed, then diluted with water (10 l). Buckets of fertilizer is enough for 10 - 15 plants.

The second time you need to feed the plants during flowering and formation of ovaries. To prepare the fertilizer, 0.5 liters of liquid mullein is dissolved in water (10 liters). It is worth adding to the solution 1 tablespoon of nitrophoska, 0.5 g of boric acid, 0.3 g of manganese sulphate and 50 g of potassium sulphate. The prepared solution is enough for processing 3 square meters of land.

To increase the yield of cucumbers, after 2 weeks, you need to fertilize the plants again with a less concentrated solution of mullein. This time, only 1.5 - 2.5 tablespoons of fertilizer should be dissolved in a bucket of water (10 liters). A bucket of fertilizer needs to be poured onto 1.2 square meters of soil. After 2 weeks, the procedure must be repeated.

Yeast will help speed up plant growth. Getting into the ground, they release substances that are useful for the plant: vitamins, phytohormones, auxins. During irrigation, carbonic acid is released, phosphorus and nitrogen are formed.

One package of yeast (40 g) is diluted in a bucket of water (10 l) and left to ferment for 3 days in a sunny area. The solution must be periodically stirred. For each plant, pour 0.5 liters of the composition.

Knowing how to increase the yield, you need to adhere to the recommended dosages. The abundance of yeast can cause excessive growth of tops and a small number of ovaries. Wood ash can partially neutralize the yeast. To the solution add 1 cup of ash. It is better to take the ashes of fruit trees.

Fertilize plant roots after a generous watering in the evening on an overcast day.

Recommendations of experienced gardeners

To stimulate the growth of cucumbers and obtain a bountiful harvest, you need to follow a few rules:

  1. Spud bushes should be after the formation of the third sheet.
  2. After the appearance of the 5th leaf, the shoot must be pinched with a knife. The formation of lateral shoots will help accelerate the appearance of fruits.
  3. To grow a good crop, plants need to be loosened regularly. In this case, you should try not to damage the root system.
  4. The soil under the plants is covered with compost or peat. This will allow cucumbers to accumulate nutrients and use them for rapid growth.
  5. Artificial pollination will accelerate the formation of ovaries. It is carried out using a soft brush, transferring pollen from male flowers to female ones.
  6. Crop of cucumbers in the greenhouse must be timely removed. Regular harvesting of vegetables will stimulate the ripening of new fruits.
Tip! It is also believed that it stimulates the growth of cucumbers by watering with milk diluted in water (in a 1: 2 ratio). It should be made 1 time in 2 weeks.

A method for increasing female flowers

In order to form more female flowers, experienced gardeners “smoke” cucumbers. It must begin before the flowering period. 5 days before the “smoke” procedure, you need to stop watering. Iron portable stoves without pipes are installed in the greenhouse. They put burning coals and tightly close the door. Firewood is laid on the stove. High temperatures cause smoldering and carbon monoxide. Smoke triggers the development of female flowers.

Smoldering little heads can be put in an old iron baby bath or in a basin. It is important to prevent the appearance of open fire and to ensure that there is no fire. The procedure is done in the morning on sunny days, when the temperature rises to 30 degrees.
