Cucumber Siberian garland: description of the variety, cultivation and formation

Cucumbers - no matter how many you grow them, are still not enough, because they are fresh and good, both for pickling and for preserving. Recently, unique beam hybrids have appeared and immediately became very popular. That is, cucumbers grow with a real fan from one point - even, from an aesthetic point of view, the spectacle is very attractive, and if they are also tasty and crispy! Here, for example, Siberian garland cucumbers, went on sale just a couple of years ago and have already caused a real stir among amateur gardeners. These garlands of cucumbers look very attractive on most advertising photos.

It is necessary to understand how the description of the variety Siberian Garland corresponds to reality, and what, in general, there are features in the beam varieties of cucumbers.

Description and features of agricultural cultivars of beam varieties

The main peculiarity of bundle-type cucumbers, even proceeding from the name, is that they can form several ovaries in one node, sometimes up to 10-15 pieces. Naturally, it cannot be beneficial not to distinguish such varieties from ordinary ones, since it is only due to this quality that it is possible to collect several times more cucumbers from the same area. And indeed, statistics show that the number of fruits on a single cucumber variety variety Garland F1 can reach 500 pieces and even more.

But such unique plants must also require unique growing conditions. For some reason, yes, they demand, but not such unique ones, at least, to create such conditions is quite within the reach of even a very experienced gardener. Indeed, if you do not fulfill the basic requirements of the culture, the plants will not be able to “feed” their numerous ovaries in the garland and some of them will wither.

To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to take into account and scrupulously implement all of the following agricultural practices for the care of cucumbers:

  1. Plant cucumbers as little as possible. In the greenhouse there are only 2 cucumber plants per square meter, in the open field the number of planted cucumber plants per square meter can be doubled.
  2. It is important at the very early stages of growing cucumbers to make sure that they grow strong, healthy, have a strong root system, a strong stalk and large leaves - that is, the plants must initially have the strength to feed so many ovaries. To do this, in the open field it is necessary to use warm ridges with a large layer of organic matter, preferably prepared in the fall. It is also necessary to use film covers or tunnels to preserve heat, since cucumbers will be able to show all their power only at high humidity and warm, without temperature changes, weather. Perhaps because of this, in the middle lane and to the north, it makes sense to grow such bundle cucumber varieties only in greenhouse conditions.
  3. It is advisable to collect the greens as often as possible, maybe even every day, since overgrown cucumbers can restrain the formation of new ovaries.
  4. Starting from the flowering period and the entire fruiting period, weekly feeding of cucumber with complex organo-mineral fertilizer with microelements is obligatory.
  5. In a greenhouse, it will have a beneficial effect on the yield of cucumbers, the release of large amounts of carbon dioxide. For this, a barrel with fermented herbal extract is placed in the greenhouse.
  6. Be sure to grow beam varieties of cucumbers using the trellis. To do this, at the ends of the beds are installed two-meter pillars, between which the wire is stretched in three places along the height. It is desirable to attach a wire with large cells to the wire (size 10-20 cm). On this grid are fixed scourge of cucumbers. Planting on a garden bed in a greenhouse is necessarily one-line, in the open field you can use two-line planting of cucumbers.

Various garlands

After getting the initial idea of what a puffer cucumber variety is, you need to go back and consider one of the most interesting puppy varieties, which was already mentioned at the beginning of the article, namely the Siberian garland F1 cucumber.

Description cucumber varieties Siberian garland

This hybrid was obtained at the Chelyabinsk breeding station (Miass) in 2013 and is one of the representatives of the “magnificent five” collection hybrids of cucumbers sold by the Ural summer resident company.

The manufacturer gives the following characteristics of the variety of cucumbers Siberian garland:

  • Early, from germination to fruiting about 40 days.
  • Partenocarpic means that bees and other insects are not needed for pollination.
  • It belongs to the bouquet (or beam) type, due to which it becomes possible to yield up to 500 cucumbers from one plant. In one ovary can be up to 15 cucumbers.
  • High taste and commodity qualities of fruits - cucumbers without bitterness and voids, 5-8 cm in size.
  • They are characterized by slow growth of fruits, which is why small cucumbers practically cannot outgrow, even if you do not pick them in time. But the formation of further ovaries in case of late collection of greengrass in any case slows down.
  • Most fruitfulness - literally until the very first frosts, you can shoot delicious cucumbers.

Indeed, the characteristics are impressive, but what do real consumers say, gardeners who grew a variety of cucumbers Siberian garland in their homestead plots.

Reviews of hybrid Siberian garland

These are the various reviews about this hybrid of cucumbers found among Internet users, in combination gardeners - gardeners.

Maria, 45, Barnaul. Once, going into the Gardener shop, I saw a bag on the cover of which were painted such unusual cucumbers, which grew directly in a whole bunch. And even though I am a conservative person, and I don’t really trust any innovations, but the sellers are persuaded to try these miracles - cucumber seeds Siberian garland. I must say that although the price of cucumber seeds was rather big 85 rubles for 5 pieces, I later did not regret at all the decision. In Siberia, the weather rarely indulges us, so this summer was not super, and the varieties of cucumbers, which I plant for many years, did not yield the crop that I expected from them. But a new variety unexpectedly pleased. Only thanks to him, I managed to tighten enough blanks of cucumbers for the winter. The cucumbers are small, of a gherkin type, and at the same time they do not outgrow at all, and they do not taste bitter either. By the way, rose all 5 seeds. Here are just a variety of Siberian garland hybrid, so this year I had to look again for these seeds. But they are worth it. Anna, 37 years old, Moscow, has grown Siberian garland in 2015. I couldn’t pass by the super-yield, which was stated in the advertisement. I did not have any particular yield, everything is the same as in other varieties of cucumbers that I grew side by side. Yes, of course, it is interesting when 3-4 cucumbers are growing simultaneously from one sinus. But in the picture in the advertisement cucumbers with pimples, and I grew smooth. And I liked the cucumbers to taste, and the skin was rather thin, in general, for salads - they would work. Tatyana, 42, Tyumen I bought into advertising pictures and the super-yields of the Siberian garland. Some kind of nonsense, not a sort, of course, they need some special conditions, but my yield was at a minimum, and some cucumbers are bald and pot-bellied, nothing at all to do with the picture on the bag of seeds. Attention! The reviews are really very different, but as is often the case with the seeds of our producers, it turned out that in 2015, indeed for some varieties, including cucumber seeds Siberian garland, there was a re-grading.

We must pay tribute, this fact was taken into account, the remnants were sent to the manufacturer, and for 2016 already tested, good cucumber seeds went on sale. So, there is a chance that individual negative reviews are associated only with this misunderstanding, and on the whole the hybrid of cucumbers Siberian garland justifies the hopes placed on it.

What else are the garlands

The most interesting is that among the sheaf varieties there is another hybrid of cucumber called Garland F1. This hybrid of cucumbers from the well-known agrofirm "Gavrish" was registered in the State Register of Russia in 2010.

Cucumber Garland has the following characteristics:

  • Early ripe, begin to fructify for 42 days after shoots;
  • Growth is powerful, weakly branching type;
  • Shade-tolerant plants;
  • Partenokarpicheskie, ie, for the formation of fruits do not need pollination
  • Beam, or bouquet type - about 4-6 ovaries in one nest;
  • Fruits are short, cylindrical, 12-14 cm long, weighing 110-120 g, with white pubescence and tubercles of medium size;
  • The taste of cucumbers is excellent, suitable for both salads and blanks;
  • Good resistance to powdery mildew, root rot, olive spot.

If we compare the descriptions of both hybrids, then the Garland has more cucumbers in size and weight, but they are much smaller in the nest.

Important! The big advantage of the hybrid Garland is its shade tolerance.

This allows you to grow it in greenhouses in the middle and northern latitudes, where sunny days, even in summer is not always enough.

Little about the formation of garlands

Due to the peculiarities of growth in the middle lane and to the north, it is desirable to form cucumber bushes Garland and Siberian garland in a special way to obtain the maximum possible yield.

The formation of the cucumber bush should be strictly in one stem. To do this, you first need to tie up the main stem to the trellis, then gently trim all lateral processes in the lower part 50 cm up. In each sinus leave only one ovary and one leaf.

In the middle part of the cucumber bush (up to one meter), 2 ovaries and two leaves each are already left, the rest is removed. See the photo below for details.

When the main shoot reaches the top of the tapestry, it is pinched, and then it is allowed to grow horizontally. When the crop on the main stem is ripe, cucumber bushes are fed with nitrogen-containing fertilizer and new bunches of cucumbers will start to form in the main axils.

In the southern regions of Russia, because of the abundance of sun and heat, the formation of a cucumber bush is voluntary. Even if it is not carried out, cucumbers, while observing the rest of the agrotechnical methods, will be enough light and heat to ripen a bountiful harvest.

Thus, both garlands are quite capable of satisfying the tastes and desires of even the fastidious gardeners and will make it possible to prepare various and numerous preparations of cucumbers for the winter period.
